  • Key takeaways:
  • LG StandbyME GO is a portable TV with touchscreen and wireless capabilities, perfect for travelers and tech lovers.
  • SwitchBot S10 is a robotic floor mop that can refill and empty itself, making cleaning easier and more efficient.
  • The Honor V Purse is a concept product that combines wearable and foldable tech in the form of a stylish purse, showcasing the potential for high-fashion wearable tech.

At IFA 2023, we saw a lot of impressive new tech. But among these high-end tech showcases were some unusual and innovative products, the type of tech that makes you look twice. So, here are the weirdest and most wonderful products we found at IFA 2023.

1. LG StandbyME GO

LG turned many heads this year with the StandbyME GO, a small TV held in a portable metal case. This intriguing product contains a 27-inch touchscreen with a 1080p liquid crystal display (LCD), as well as a 20W speaker system. The screen can also be switched between portrait and landscape mode.

The StandbyME GO can serve you wirelessly, with a lifespan of up to three hours per charge. You can connect to a Wi-Fi network to access all your desired streaming services.

The StandbyME GO certainly isn't for everyone, but frequent travelers, outdoor enthusiasts, and tech lovers will certainly find this unique device useful.

The StandbyME GO is retailing for $999.99. For a small 1080p display, this seems a little steep. But the device's overall design and portable nature do give it an edge over other TVs.

After all, who doesn't want to enjoy a cozy movie during a picnic or campout?

2. SwitchBot S10

We've all heard of robot vacuums, but the SwitchBot S10 offers something entirely new: an automated floor mop that can empty and refill itself.

Robotic vacuums are great, but they can only do so much cleaning on surfaces, as they leave liquid stains behind.

Enter the SwitchBot S10. This nifty little robotic cleaner can take clean water from appliances in your home, such as your boiler or dishwasher, and use it to clean your floors. Simply connect the SwitchBot WaterStation to the appliance of your choice, and the automated cleaner will drain clean water, as well as discharge dirty water, using your home's preexisting plumbing system.

The S10 can also dry its internal mop on its own and can even mop the carpet without leaving behind long trails of water. So, you're not even limited to hardwood or tile flooring with this handy product.

3. Honor V Purse

A particularly wonderful product we found at IFA 2023 was the Honor V Purse. This product offers something incredibly innovative: a smartphone that comes in the form of a stylish purse.

You can already buy wearable pouches for your phone, and Samsung has offered a range of folding smartphones for years. But the Honor V Purse takes wearable and foldable tech to the next level with a gorgeous designer-level clutch bag. What's more, the bag is the phone itself.

But don't worry; you don't have to commit to a particular design here. What's incredible about the V Purse is its outward, always-on display, allowing you to customize your wearable phone's appearance as and when you please. There are also numerous straps available to fit varying styles.

At the moment, the Honor V Purse is just a concept product, but it may pave the way for future wearable tech, especially that which incorporates a high-fashion element into its design.

4. Enabot Ebo X

If you worry about your pets when you're away from home, the Enabot Ebo X may be the perfect product for you. This cute little robot runs around your house for you, checking in on your furry friends in your absence, as well as your other family members or just your home itself.

The Ebo X has a 4K stabilized camera, smart mapping, edge detection, and even sound source detection. This means you can get crystal-clear footage of your home without worrying about your Ebo X falling down the stairs or running into a sharp edge.

Concerned about an elderly family taking a nasty fall? Think your pets might be acting up while you're away? The Ebo X lets you keep an eye on the ones you love and can also notify you of elderly accidents. The device even comes with Alexa integration.

The Enabot Ebo X is currently available for pre-order with an RRP of $999.

5. Ambient Photonics' No-Charge Wireless Keyboard

Over the past decade, the tech industry's focus on sustainable devices has certainly increased. We saw this at IFA 2023, with one particular product catching our eye. Partnering with Chicony, Ambient Photonics has developed a battery-less keyboard that is completely wireless and doesn't even need to be plugged in for charging.

So, how does it work?

This keyboard (and the others in Ambient Photonics' new range) uses a technology known as low-light solar photovoltaic (PV) cells. These cells don't need direct sunlight to function. In fact, they can use indoor lighting to generate power. This allows for the total removal of disposable lithium batteries, making the keyboard far more sustainable.

What's more, the keyboard is made from recycled materials, lowering its overall carbon footprint. If you're a tech enthusiast and an eco lover, you may become a fan of this keyboard range.

Ambient Photonics and Chicony are hoping to release their sustainable keyboards onto the market in early 2024.

6. Robosen's Robotics Range

IFA's not all about serious tech. There were also some wacky robotics that we came across, including Robosen's range of toy robotic models.

The Grimlock robot, a dinosaur-shaped model, was Robosen's newest addition to its collection, debuting at $1,700. This dinosaur can transform into a humanoid Autobot upon the user's request and can also walk around, roar, and even respond to voice commands.

The Grimlock comes with Bluetooth BLE 5.0 capabilities, SOC chip technology, authentic G1 sounds, and a number of wearable accessories for the humanoid version.

But it wasn't just the dinosaur model on display at IFA 2023. Robosen also displayed some of its slightly older products, wowing visitors with a choreographed performance from a group of its Optimus Prime and Bumblebee robot models.

Also on display was Robosen's newer version of the Interstellar Scout: the K1 Pro. This lightweight robot has three programming modes, voice control and Bluetooth 4.2 connection.

7. EEVE Willow

If you've got a garden but aren't keen on pulling out weeds and trimming the grass every other week, you may be interested in the EEVE Willow. This personal robot assistant strolls through your garden, mowing the lawn and eradicating weeds with its storage of weed-killing chemicals.

With its built-in camera and AI functionality, the EEVE Willow navigates your garden, spotting work that needs to be done. Willow can mow up to 1,500 square meters of lawn, and the Willow Pro can manage up to 3,600 square meters. The robot moves in straight lines during the mowing process to keep things tidy.

The Willow even shreds and collects leaves, making your Fall garden cleanup that much easier. Through the Control Room app, you can monitor and control Willow remotely, be it from your smartphone or desktop.

The EEVE Willow currently costs just under $3,000, with the Pro costing just under $3,700.
