Finding media on Reddit doesn't have to be a complicated process. Whether you’re looking for celebrity images, a specific GIF, or a video for a good laugh, you can do it all in a dedicated place.

Reddit has improved its search feature to focus on helping you do just that. Here's how to find media on Reddit using the search tab.

Reddit Updates Its Search Feature

Reddit has refreshed its platform to improve how you find media, as announced in a Reddit blog post on October 4, 2023. The updates yield more accurate search results on the mobile app and improve the search feature on the mobile web platform. It helps you find media in a dedicated place and avoid the clutter.

How to Find Videos, Images, and GIFs on Reddit

Although it's already a user-friendly platform, the update should help you search Reddit more effectively. Here's how:

1. Media Search Tab

Reddit's Media tab allows you to get straight to the relevant search results instead of combing through irrelevant posts. Here's how to use it:

  1. Open Reddit, tap the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner, and enter your search query.
  2. The search results will show on the screen with the Posts tab selected by default. Swipe to the left and tap the Media tab.
  3. Browse the search results to find the image, video, or GIF you're looking for.

2. Finding Media in Subreddits

Similar to the Media tab, you can skip the clutter to find media on Reddit's community pages. Follow the steps below to get started.

  1. In the Reddit app, tap Communities at the bottom and find the page you want to search.
  2. On the subreddit page, tap the magnifying glass icon at the top, type the relevant search query in the search bar, and hit Enter.
  3. The search results will be displayed on the screen. Tap the Media tab to focus your search and look for the video, image, or GIF you're interested in.

3. Searching on Mobile Web

The final method for finding media on Reddit is to search for it on the mobile web platform. The best part is that you don't have to sign in to your account. The search function works similarly to that of the mobile app, so navigating it should be easy.

  1. Open Reddit in your mobile browser.
  2. Tap the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner and enter your search query in the search bar.
  3. Look for posts containing media (hint: they'll have a picture on the right) and find the image, video, or GIF you're looking for.

Unfortunately, you can't isolate media posts in the search results on Reddit's mobile web version. This will make your search a little more time-consuming.

Find Media Fast on Reddit

Thanks to Reddit's Media tab, you can focus your search to find the photos and videos you're looking for in no time. This should make your searches more streamlined and save you time.
